Quantcast El Vaquero

General Information

El Vaquero is the student newspaper of Glendale Community College, serving the wide interests and information needs of a diverse student body of more that 25,000 full-time and part-time students. It publishes seven to eight times during the fall and spring semesters with a multitalented staff of 15 to 20 students.

The student newspaper, now in its 71st year, is a venerable part of campus history. El Vaquero trains and develops writers, editors, photographers and design artists while producing a publication that has gained praise throughout the college community. Many alumni have gone on to write for other journalistic publications, newspapers and magazines.

There is a preparatory class, Reporting the News (Journalism 102), that most students take before joining the newspaper class (Journalism 103 and 104). Photographers must take photojournalism (Journalism 110) as a prerequisite.

If you have an innate curiosity in what goes on around you and a love for words, pictures or computer graphics, you are encouraged to join El Vaquero.
